The Canals

The Canals is a flooded city that a criminal order took over. It reads as Venice with the mafia running it — dark water under stone bridges, and three Overlords who each hold a piece of it.

It has a Hardcore submode, and it is the first dungeon in the game where one mistake ends the run for the whole lobby rather than for the player who made it.

Mobs

Bodyguard

Bodyguards chase players through The Canals, stopping at their position to use a short-range swing.

Dark Magician

The Dark Magician stops moving while casting its long purple beam in The Canals. A small dead zone immediately beside it lets players avoid the beam by standing close.

Bosses

Guardian Overlord

The Guardian Overlord stands beyond the second bridge in The Canals, after three waves following the Mage Overlord. Its fixed attack sequence combines close-range slashes and ranged hazards.

Mage Overlord

The Mage Overlord waits beyond the first bridge in The Canals, after two waves of Bodyguards and Dark Magicians. Its attacks follow a fixed three-move sequence.

Warrior Overlord

The Warrior Overlord waits at the end of The Canals after all enemy waves and both mini-bosses. It remains stationary and follows a fixed three-attack sequence.

Wave defence

  • In Wave Defence you must defeat waves of the selected dungeon’s enemies coming from four gates around the arena. After completing four enemy waves, a boss round appears on the fifth. The bosses cycle from the first to the third boss, with the third boss appearing on round 15.

  • Every 15 rounds, after completing the third boss, you receive random drops from the Wave Defence difficulty you selected. The source notes the count of those drops as unconfirmed.

  • If you are running solo you must go until you are dead. If you are running with other people, Wave Defence goes until nobody is alive at the same time or everybody has left. Once you die you respawn at the end of the next boss wave completion.

  • The wave milestones award titles: Canals Defender at wave 30, Elite Canals Defender at wave 45, Ultimate Canals Defender at wave 100, and Godly Canals Defender at wave 300.

Trivia

  • The Canals is the first known dungeon where nuking becomes possible. On the Guardian Overlord, its second boss, a move spawns a floating sword above your head and instructs you to reach a red zone; if you do not reach it in time you explode, dealing damage to the entire lobby.

  • The layout is a city overrun by mages and bodyguards, and the three Overlords who rule over it pose a significant challenge — the Warrior Overlord carries more health than the other two.

  • The guardian’s sword attack highlights one player and gives them five seconds to reach a safe zone, and that zone protects only them: it does nothing against any other attack.

  • The Warrior Overlord’s large blast can only be avoided by finding a blue force field somewhere in the room, and that field protects against the blast and nothing else.
