The Underworld

The Underworld is the one trip underground, and the only dungeon in the game with anything written on it: letters on the door at the spawn, as though whoever is sent down here is expected to read them.

It runs as a chain of long halls between wider circular rooms, mob groups meeting you at the mouth of each one, and a single arena at the end with Demon Lord Azrallik in it.

Mobs

Blood Minion

Blood Minions are summoned by Demonic Overgrowth in The Underworld, with a maximum of three summoned at a time. Once all three have appeared, they become enraged and move much faster. Their lower health makes them easier to kill before they become a threat.

Dark Mage

The Dark Mage attacks in The Underworld by conjuring floor spikes with its staff. Tight rooms make its attacks harder to avoid. It moves faster than many ranged enemies, allowing players to group it with nearby enemies in larger rooms.

Demon Warrior

The Demon Warrior is a melee enemy in The Underworld, equipped with a jagged, spiked sword and red wings. Its simple pursuit becomes dangerous if players trap themselves in the tight corridors.

Elder Dark Mage

The Elder Dark Mage is an immobile ranged enemy in The Underworld. It has greater range than the Dark Mage and spawns in large rooms. Bring other enemies toward it when grouping mobs, since it cannot follow them.

Bosses

Demonic Overgrowth

Demonic Overgrowth waits in a rectangular arena with four corner pillars in The Underworld. It stays stationary and uses long-range spike attacks.

Kolvumar

Kolvumar is the second mini-boss in The Underworld, fought in a cave after Demonic Overgrowth. Its straight charges leave damaging trails; it cannot bend or steer a charge toward a moving player.

Demon Lord Azrallik

Demon Lord Azrallik waits at the broken end of a colosseum in The Underworld. At half health it removes its heart and disappears. Destroy the exposed heart to make Azrallik return. The heart summons Blood Minions, with the source estimating that three to six minions precede their enraged state.

Wave defence

  • Entering Wave Defence puts you in a colosseum with four gates spaced evenly across the walls, and those four gates are where the groups of enemies spawn from. Two groups spawn on two of the four gates, with eight random enemies per group.

  • The same bosses appear in Wave Defence as in the normal game mode, except that the final boss, Demon Lord Azrallik, cannot spawn.

  • Drops happen every 15 waves. Hardcore cannot be applied to this dungeon, so you are limited to two drops every 15 waves.

  • The wave milestones award titles: Demon Defender at wave 30, Elite Demon Defender at wave 45, Ultimate Demon Defender at wave 100, and Godly Demon Defender at wave 300.

Trivia

  • It is recommended to have at least 35K health for Insane difficulty and 70K health for Nightmare before starting a run.

  • In the second group of enemies in room 5, the rightmost Demon Warrior is clipped inside another one. It is most noticeable because two swords protrude out of the group.

  • Demon Lord Azrallik has 93.5M health on Insane and 191.25M on Nightmare, and the heart that accompanies him has 60% of that. The Demonic Overgrowth carries 68M health on Insane and 170M on Nightmare.

  • The map shows hidden rooms that light up when they are opened; the ten rooms in the Rooms table are the ones the document walks through.

  • The Elder Dark Mage is the first big base enemy in the entire game — a larger, immobile, slightly transparent version of the Dark Mage that summons circles on the player on a much longer cooldown.
