King's Castle

King’s Castle is a castle you have to take by force: through the outer grounds, across the bridge, into the foyer, and up to the throne room where the king is waiting. Lava works its way across the ground as the run goes on, so the rooms you have already cleared stop being somewhere you can stand.

Three of the castle’s people get in the way on the way up — a beastmaster outside the walls, an arch mage in the left wing, and the king himself at the end.

Mobs

Elementalist

The Elementalist is a ranged magical enemy and one of the three regular enemy types in King's Castle, alongside the King's Guard and the Hitman. It attacks from a distance rather than closing, targeting a nearby player and holding its distance while it casts.

Elementalist in game, from the Dungeon Quest community documentation.

Hitman

The Hitman is a fast melee enemy and one of the three regular enemy types in King's Castle. It moves quickly enough to close on a player far faster than the King's Guard, then attacks directly once in melee range.

Hitman in game, from the Dungeon Quest community documentation.

King's Guard

The King's Guard is a common melee enemy and one of the castle's primary soldiers, equipped with full knight armour and a sword. It pursues an alerted player and tries to stay within melee range, attacking with its sword once close enough.

Bosses

Arch-Mage

The Arch-Mage is the second mini-boss of the player in King's Castle, in the fifth room. They carry a purple Celestial Fire Staff, wear an Arch-Mage Set with a hood instead of a crown, and have a purple Innervate effect.

Beast Master

The Beast Master is the first mini-boss in King's Castle, in the third room. He carries a Goblin Cleaver and wears a Beastly Guardian Set, and is third in command of the King's army.

The King

The King is the main boss of King's Castle, in the eighth room. He is a giant humanoid wielding two fiery swords and wearing a modified Godly Guardian Set with red details.

Wave defence

  • Every wave that is not a multiple of 5 spawns two groups of enemies from two of the four gates. The enemies are randomised, with a total of eight coming from each gate.

  • Bosses appear every 5 waves and work as they do in a normal run, except that the Beastmaster boss is disabled in Wave Defence.

  • Wave Defence works very similarly to hardcore mode: when you die you spectate the other players, but every time a player kills a boss, all other players are revived. There is no timer in Wave Defence.

  • Reaching the wave milestones awards titles: King’s Defender at wave 30, Elite King’s Defender at wave 45, Ultimate King’s Defender at wave 100, and Godly King’s Defender at wave 300.

Trivia

  • King’s Castle was originally released on 6 April 2019, and it is the fourth dungeon in the game, sitting between Pirate Island and The Underworld.

  • The Hitman is the first mob introduced in Dungeon Quest Reborn with the fastest mobility.

  • King’s Castle is the first dungeon to introduce the "kill floor", where lava covers the room you are standing in. It is there to stop players leaving the arena they are meant to be fighting in.

  • Clearing the foyer opens the left path into the arch mage’s wing, and the right wing is reached by backtracking through the foyer afterwards.

  • The eight rooms hold 70 mobs between them — 28 King’s Guards, 27 Elementalists and 15 Hitmen — plus the three bosses.
