Pirate Island

Pirate Island is the third dungeon in the game, and the first to feature multiple segments that each contain its own boss enemy. Captain Blackbeard guards the first segment at the beach, the Spider Queen restricts the caverns, and finally the Demonic Pirate Captain is the final encounter on the caravel ship. The non-boss enemies that populate the dungeon are members of a pirate crew.

Mobs

Infected Pirate

The Infected Pirate is a minion summoned by the Spider Queen: a zombified Pirate Savage that deals melee damage on contact, becomes aggravated when the player comes close, and then chases them continuously.

Pirate Rifleman

The Pirate Rifleman is a slow mob that deals ranged damage to players nearby. On becoming aggravated, a bright red stroke warns of the direction it is about to fire in, and it shoots a moment later.

Pirate Savage

The Pirate Savage is a fast mob that deals melee damage on contact. Come close to one and it turns aggravated and chases the player continuously. It wears a pirate outfit and carries a sword in its right hand.

Bosses

Captain Blackbeard

Captain Blackbeard is the first mini-boss of Pirate Island. He never moves, and each of his ranged attacks deals more damage on the harder difficulties.

Spider Queen

The Spider Queen is the second mini-boss of Pirate Island. She never moves, and runs a repeating sequence of two attacks, each dealing more damage on the harder difficulties.

Demonic Pirate Captain

Wave defence

  • Every wave that is not a multiple of 5 spawns two groups of enemies from two of the four gates. The enemies are randomised, with a total of eight coming from each gate.
  • Bosses appear every 5 waves and work as they do in a normal run, except that the Spider Queen boss is disabled in Wave Defence.
  • Wave Defense works very similarly to hardcore mode: when you die you spectate the other players, but every time a player kills a boss, all other players are revived. There is no timer in Wave Defense.
  • Reaching the wave milestones awards titles: Pirate’s Defender at wave 30, Elite Pirate’s Defender at wave 45, Ultimate Pirate’s Defender at wave 100, and Godly Pirate’s Defender at wave 300.

Trivia

  • The island scales to the party size using the formula HP = Base HP x (1 + 0.3 x (Players - 1)), which makes it the first dungeon where bringing more people changes the difficulty of the room rather than only the speed of it.

  • Pirate Island was the third dungeon added to Dungeon Quest, on 22 March 2019, in the first update to change the game logo. It was the first dungeon in the game to feature two mini-bosses before a final boss, and the first to introduce multiple bosses.

  • It was the first to have something pulled and changed: Phantom Flames used to be called Skull Flames, but skulls cannot be shown in games under the rules on death in China, so it was renamed.

  • It was the first dungeon to introduce two sets of legendaries, the Soulstealer Greatsword and the Staff of the Gods, and it introduced God sets into the game.

  • It had an eleven minute time limit and was the first dungeon to change the time requirement for a run.

  • Pirate Island has a single cosmetic, the Pirate Captain, with about a 1 in 208 (0.48%) chance of dropping on beating the dungeon on Nightmare. The Pirate Achiever title is awarded alongside it.
