Samurai Palace

Samurai Palace is a residence and a training ground: a sakura palace of wooden rooms, a bridge over water and a rock cave open to the sky at the top. It is the sixth dungeon in the game and the first built on a real place rather than a fantasy one.

The run is a walk to the end of the palace. Two mini-bosses stand on the way and a final duel waits in the pool of water where the path stops and there is nowhere further to go.

Mobs

Elite Swordsmen

Elite Swordsmen spawn during Sanada Yukimura’s fight on the upper dojo floor in Samurai Palace, roughly every one to two boss attacks. Their delayed circular attack becomes harder to evade when Sanada restricts movement.

Samurai Swordsmen

Samurai Swordsmen pursue players through Samurai Palace, stopping only to swing their swords. They appear on the lower dojo floor and outside on the grass.

Shuriken Thrower

The Shuriken Thrower moves more slowly than Samurai Swordsmen and attacks from range in Samurai Palace. Both enemies appear together across the map, including outside the dojo.

Ultimate Swordsmen

Ultimate Swordsmen spawn after Miyamoto Musashi’s attack sequence in Samurai Palace. They disappear after one Flame Whirlwind and return only when the boss summons them again.

Bosses

Ancient Golem Guardian

The Ancient Golem Guardian waits in an open cave beyond the dojo in Samurai Palace. It remains stationary but turns toward players for its rock throw.

Sanada Yukimura

Sanada Yukimura stands on the upper dojo floor near the start of Samurai Palace. It cannot move but rotates for its shuriken attack and summons Elite Swordsmen to pursue players.

Miyamoto Musashi

Miyamoto Musashi stands in a small lake beside a snowy mountain at the end of Samurai Palace. It stays stationary but turns toward players during attacks.

Wave defence

  • In Wave Defence you must defeat waves of the selected dungeon’s enemies coming from four gates around the arena. After completing four enemy waves, a boss round appears on the fifth. The bosses cycle from the first to the third boss, with the third boss appearing on round 15.
  • Every 15 rounds, after completing the third boss, you receive random drops from the Wave Defence difficulty you selected (1 base drop + 1 extra item).
  • If you are running solo you must go until you are dead. If you are running with other people, Wave Defence goes until nobody is alive at the same time or everybody has left. Once you die you respawn at the end of the next boss wave completion.
  • The wave milestones award titles: Samurai Defender at wave 30, Elite Samurai Defender at wave 45, Ultimate Samurai Defender at wave 100, and Godly Samurai Defender at wave 300.

Trivia

  • The dungeon before Samurai Palace is The Underworld, and Samurai Palace is the dungeon that precedes The Canals.

  • It is the first dungeon to use the second victory music of Dungeon Quest.

  • It includes the Staff of Heat and the Bone Scythe, which require the player to be level 89 — a level at which it is impossible to get a Samurai Palace item.

  • It is the first dungeon to introduce speed spells, Illusion Blast and Flame Cyclone. A speed spell heals, boosts the player or deals damage while also giving a movement speed boost to help dodge enemies, and speed spells are later almost required in The Canals and to the end of the game.

  • It was originally released in the old game on 8 June 2019 and came out with the release of Dungeon Quest Reborn along with every other dungeon up to Enchanted Forest.

  • The dungeon is based on Japanese culture and is generally read as Edo era, when samurais were at their most prominent. Its collectable armour is the ancestral set.
